what we do but don’t know / Running Sculptures

The laboratory work what we do but don't know was a work I collectively developed and performed together with dance artists and choreographer Lars Dahl Pedersen and Mette Møller Overgaard.

It is structured as a choreographic participatory game where we as dancers, taking part of the game, investigate the space through the mediums of movement, verbal language, and music. It functions both as a workshop and a performance format. With a pair of wireless headphones, each individual participant/audience member is guided in the space led by one of us dancers. The participants visit three different ‘stations’ in the space: A station of physical interaction/dancing, a station of observing the dancing participants, and a station of writing and reflecting on what’s happening in the space. The participants are choosing different scores at the stations which are constantly defining and changing the activities in the space.

Since 2016 we have been working on merging and weaving our individual choreographic interests together and asked each other how our practices can co-exist by sharing and spending time with them. The choreographic laboratory has been touring around Denmark since 2018 and was part of Dansehallerne's KORA programme for kids and youngsters.
