chill out, we have already been reborn

chill out, we have already been reborn was the finale BA graduation work of mine and was a performance that dealt with questions on (body) utopias.

By studying old science fiction movies from U.S. and USSR dealing with the imagined leap of human society, living next to or being confronted by the apocalypse, space travel, and the human robot hybrid, the work led to the philosophical reading of Michel Foucault’s Utopian Body, the artistic understanding of the ancient civilization by Tito Lucretius, and beyond to the ideas of the Post-Human in an imagined future where humans are starting to co-exist with cyborgs.

These ideas and concepts were formed into a tight performative set-up, where the four performers were moving on a foil carpet, strictly choreographed in slow-motion, while the audience were listening to repeatable questions in wireless headphones. The attempt was to open the audience’s imagination, letting them read, sense, interpretate, and speculate on the massive changes and potentials we humans consist of.
