‘the backyard project’ was a dance trio made for and in a private backyard at Nørrebro in Copenhagen in 2024.The project tried to follow a need, coming from the gut, rather than waiting for the perfect moment of realization. The initiation came from space in the calendar and having used the backyard for practicing, and liking it. Max Wallmeier took the choreographic lead, both Vilma Ehnberg and I had danced in his works and the process started where previous processes left off, but we embraced not having to know what it would turn out to be in its DIY character. We wanted to soak dances in the atmosphere of the backyard, let weather affect our bodies, bring dance into the private space and invite people alongside with it.
